After an hour and a half at the top of the World Trade Centre I wandered round lower Manhattan and the civic centre, then walked most of the way across the Brooklyn Bridge and back. Took a subway uptown to Central Park and wandered around there for awhile before wandering back south, zig-zagging my way through midtown, visiting Grand Central Station and looking at the shops before ending up at 34th St. Bumped into Pete outside Macy's (what are the chances of that!?). He was going back to the hotel but I wanted to go up the Empire State Building..
Let me just tell you, that if you go to New York, you *have* to go up the Empire State Building - and going at night was just spectacular. Took a 360 degree panorama of the city at night and a bunch of other pics as well - most of which turned out too. It was two days before Thanksgiving so performers were practising for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade outside Macy's.
The last night we were at our hotel (the Washington Jefferson hotel on W51st St) there were these movie producers there filming a movie - "Love the Hard Way" using the lobby of our hotel as a set! Weird stuff. Didn't know any of the actors that were in it though. In the courtyard of the hotel they also had this huge ball with a light inside it, presumably to give the courtyard a little natural looking light.
