Bright and early the next morning we set out on the Grey Line Deluxe City Highlights Tour, which took us all over town showing us highlights of the city. Got a great view of the city from the "Twin Peaks" lookout to the south of the city. Went round Golden Gate Park, and over the Golden Gate Bridge before being dropped off at Fisherman's Wharf for the Alcatraz tour.
After the tour we were dropped off at Fisherman's Wharf, where we bumped into some people that Pete knew, so we had lunch with them
Alcatraz was pretty cool. They give you these walkmans which give you a self guided tour round the prison block, pointing out where things happened, who inhabited various cells, details of various escape attempts etc.
Early Thursday morning I caught a cable car down the hill. The cable cars were being rennovated when I went to San Francisco with my family in 1983, so had been wanting to catch one ever since. The cable cars only go one way so when they get to the end of the line the driver and conducter get out and turn the thing around!
