Day 9 - Wednesday 22 November - Washington DC

White House area walkaround

One of my priorities in Washington DC was to see inside the White House, so I queued an hour and a half for that (if I'd turned up a bit later I probably wouldn't have had to wait so long). Pity you can't take photos inside though :(

Washington Monument

Another priority was to get up inside the Washington Monument, however I didn't get to stay there for very long because high winds forced them to close the monument. I could have gone back later but didn't have the time.

Wednesday afternoon building and monument crawl

Wednesday afternoon had beautiful blue skies, so went on a building and monument crawl - all the way up the mall to the Capitol Building, then all the way down to the Lincoln Memorial at the other end, then round the Tidal Basin to the Jefferson Memorial, and finally back to the hotel. I walked a *lot* that day!
